Saturn in Pisces:
Working out your Virgo kinks

By now we have seen and heard countless renditions of what Saturn in Pisces means, how anticipated and welcome this change has been, and so on. Whenever a slower planet changes signs it is indeed very significant, and there is much discussion around that particular sign, what it rules and symbolizes. As I have mentioned before and will again, every sign is on an axis of two, and does not exist bereft of the other’s energy. Therefore keeping Virgo, the opposite sign of Pisces in mind, is important in order to truly understand the workings of the time and your personal experiences. If you have placementsin either of these signs then obviously this is emphasized. In addition, the Virgo-Pisces axis is one that requires more applied attention than the others. This is for a few reasons. Virgo is the 6th and last personal sign, while Pisces is the 12th and final sign, the last collective sign. They both represent a point of maturity, one at halfway through the zodiac, one at the very end. Virgo arrives after we have begun our creative engagement with life, having gathered enough substance and willpower, launching ourselves into the Universe with our Spirit given entitlement to be. She shows up before we have spent all our internal and external resources through foolish hubris with what ideally would be a gentle but stern excuse me and a pointer, indicating its now time to take a closer look at what we are up to and refine. This is my favourite word for Virgo. Refining our technique. Yes please. Unfortunately, in the world we have created, this has been misunderstood and misconstrued as the pursuit of perfection. Terrible idea. Because now that gentle yet stern voice is sharp, critical and undermining. Many of us will experience this through parents, teachers, siblings, partners, bosses, and colleagues, but ultimately it is a ceaseless inner voice, an inner critic, who is never satisfied with the result, and manifests itself in the external world through experiences with others or through any of our endeavours.
Virgo is infamous forher naggy wife syndrome, which is a travesty because that is not the actual business of this custodian of the sacred. Virgo’s job is to ensure all the measurements, proportions, dimensions are correct for the purpose of the sacred geometry of the energy involved under her domain. Where she is in your chartm and which planets or points she rules describes where a devotional mastery is required. This is purely for the sake of the energetic quality of what is being created, not in order to feel like one has achieved perfection. The act is not for egoic nurture but for the experience of elevated vibration. This benefits all who would enter the sacred space included in the corresponding Virgo house and whatever it aspects, and has been tactfully, precisely, and lovingly created. As long as corrupted Virgo is on the loose however, this graceful busybody is not what is beheld. Instead a masochistic, self-tormenting and self-berating entity overwhelms the scene, and there is no road to joy. Virgo must define in order to discern in order to process, filter, discard, and finally assemble the most glorious of whatever may be. This is a natural necessity. When this process is substituted by judging, nitpicking, condescension, and dissatisfaction, we are privy to destruction. Now Pisces on the other hand is the Great Ocean of unconditional love, boundless, dreamy and actually unimaginable to the limited human mind. Virgo is a mental earth sign. Pisces is least bothered with labels and lines. She is here forever embracing and releasing all that is, allowing what must be to shape and unshape itself. She is the true fabric of love, binding us all together without exception. No mental exertion is required here, perfection already is, in the flowing stillness. It is the most soothing and necessary energy for all of us, particularly because of how Virgo is mostly expressed. When Saturn ruler of rules enters no rule Pisces this is very conducive to healing the Virgo wounds, because both Saturn and Virgo thrive on method.
Anytime a planet is in Pisces it by default triggers Virgo, so it is natural that one becomes more conscious of these traits at such a time. Last year’s conjunction of Venus-Jupiter-Neptune in Pisces did exactly that for many. People were expecting a psychedelic trip in Lalaland and instead were faced with the Virgo shadow, a rather prickly awakening to how we hurt ourselves through our own expectations and resultant self-loathing tendencies. Saturn’s navigation through Pisces is very different, and of course all the other transits involved at anytime contribute to the flavour of it all. What we have now is a tremendous opportunity to learn and embody practices which heal by re-conditioning the subconscious and are enduringly beneficial. There are steps, process, and commitment butthrough connection to something far deeper than just the visible world. A broadening of collective faith that brings tangible results. This only strengthens Virgo’s original intention towards the divinity of practice, labour, and offering, whilst releasing the need to be perfect as per societal and cultural definitions. Saturn puts us to work over the next two and a half years in terms of discarding our internal scolder and by restructuring our consciousness through the medium of unconditional love and a structured approach to returning to our natural divine nature. We cannot even imagine what can be created now, by each one of us. We are in it together whether you like it or not. It is not for no reason astrologers are thrilled by this placement. I can tell you I am brimming with excitement.
